‘Mythopoetic: Women artists from Australia and India’ features the work of 15 female artists and surveys the way in which women are re-picturing, re-contextualising and re-imagining the feminine. The new mythology referred to is the collective embodiment of stories, histories and images that disrupt assumptions and visual representations of the physical body, identity, gendered roles, and sexuality. Megan Cope has been selected for Next Wave's emerging artists development program - Kickstart 2013. This program includes funding, professional and creative development, and networking opportunities for emerging artists from Across Australia. This year, Archie Moore will be exhibiting work in QUT's inaugural triennial exhibition 'Ex post', 2012. QUT's cross-disciplinary approach to studying art has allowed graduates to become key figures in contemporary arts practice around the world. As a tribute to their success as individual artists, and to QUT, a select group of artists have been invited to exhibit in the distinctive triennial event. The exhibition will also include works by Lucy Griggs, Simone Hine, Judith Kentish, Sandra Selig and Shaun O'Connor.
Brisbane News featured Megan Cope for her work with the 'Art with Altitude' festival at the Brisbane Airport Village for their August (15-21) issue. As co-curator, Megan Cope has been working hard with Natasha Smith (Urban Art Projects) and Brisbane Airport Corporation to present the free 10-day contemporary art festival at the Airport Village. Congratulations to Archie Moore for his recent success with his 'Ten Missions from God' series of works which were recently acquired by the Gallery of Modern Art (QLD) for their Indigenous Australian Art Collection. The nine remaining works out of the ten were acquired. Additionally, Counihan Gallery (Brunswick, VIC) has acquired a new commission from the series, titled 'On a Mission from God (Goulburn Island)' for their collection.
