Nicola Moss bases her work on observations of growth and change of flora and fauna and surrounding environments, of numerous sites of interest such as the Gold Coast City Conservation Areas, the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens and the Redlands Shire. She is interested in the interaction of humans with the natural environment. Her work celebrates the uniqueness of flora and habitat, and aims to raise awareness of the natural environment by looking at issues of balance between human and environmental dependence and domination.

Moss has been a finalist in numerous art awards including 2009 Caldera Art Awards, Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize, Stockland Art prize and LAUNCH Clayton Utz Travelling Scholarship. She was awarded the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Residency at Mt Coot-tha, Brisbane in 2009. Moss’s work is included in public collections around Brisbane and the Gold Coast, including Holy Spirit Robina Private Hospital, Gold Coast and Suncorp, Brisbane.
