North No.1 by Edward Niznik.

Edward Niznik

Edward Niznik’s creative practice reconstructs geometry found in urban grids and agricultural pattern through the creative tradition of landscape painting. These paintings are focused on capturing the effects of light and space within architectural structures while fleshing out the perimeters of natural and urban environments.

Niznik’s interest in the foundations of design found in our surroundings is rendered in abstracted compositions on canvas. The compositional shift between urban architecture and agricultural fields are reduced to a ‘patchwork’ of shapes. This reductive visual language of form, colour, line and shape mimic human interaction with landscape and environment; add, subtract, foster and neglect.
